Graduation at UA Grantham
Testimonials by Month
Congratulations Graduates
Dear graduates,
On behalf of the entire UA Grantham team, congratulations on your graduation!
Now is the time to celebrate your way! Put on your regalia, gather with family and friends, and toast to the hard work you’ve put in to reach this significant milestone. Take snapshots and send to communications@uagrantham.edu so that we can include them on this page.
At UA Grantham we celebrate graduation every month by highlighting your stories in your own words – there’s no better way to highlight your achievement.
Thank you for letting us be part of your education journey.
Celebrate Your Way
UA Grantham does not have a traditional university campus; we also approach graduation differently. In years past, the university held traditional graduation ceremonies, yet we found that only a small number of graduates were actually able to attend.
Today, our graduation experience – like our online classes – is delivered completely online: Every month we invite soon-to-graduate students to share their stories with our community. We then publish these stories on our web site and in social media. While the absence of a traditional ceremony might feel unusual to some, we believe our online graduation experience better reflects our commitment to a more inclusive education experience.
And so we invite every graduate to “celebrate your own way”: put on your regalia, gather with family and friends, and toast to the hard work you’ve put in to reach this significant milestone. While you’re at it, be sure to capture the moment with lots of pictures – especially ones with your diploma or cap and gown. Then, send them our way of share on social media with the hashtag #UAGranthamGrad; that way all of UA Grantham can celebrate your achievement.

Student Stories
After 20 years away from school, I was given a second chance to finish my degree thanks to Mid-Delta Health Systems and the Arkansas Rural Health Partnership (ARHP). I made it my goal to not just finish, but to finish strong—with all A’s. I’m proud to say: I did it! To anyone thinking about going back to school: do it. It's never too late. I highly recommend the University of Arkansas Grantham. I'm living proof that second chances can lead to big achievements!Ashley R., BS in Health Information Management
After graduating high school, I have been going back and forth to college for over 11 years. I enrolled in multiple colleges and would leave when it became too hard. I did not have the motivation or energy to continue. Until I had my second son. That's when I told myself I needed to take schooling serious for my kids. My sons were my motivation for pushing through. I had to set an example for them and show them that " mommy did it, so you can too." My sons would see how I completed assignments, after work and make sure to ask did I complete everything; it showed me, they were always watching me. There were hard times and easy times but all of it was worth it in the end. I'm proud to say that even through all the challenges, I made it.Shaniece C., AAS in Medical Administrative Assistant
As a young man who works as a full-time construction contractor, and a full-time husband, I never thought I'd have the opportunity to pursue a higher education without having to sacrifice time with my family or take a financial risk, but thanks to this university, I was given a real chance to change my future. The student advising team was my most precious asset, as early on, there were sincere doubts on whether or not I would make it through this process, but with the right amount of guidance and encouragement, I was given the confidence to push past my self-doubt and run towards the finish line.Malachi A., AA in Business Administration and Management
At just 25 years old, I balanced earning my Associate of Business Administration and Management with launching my own licensed food trailer business. The journey required hard work, discipline, and resilience, but it taught me that no dream is too big when you’re determined. Now, I’m setting my sights on my next goal earning my Bachelor of Science in Nursing to combine my business skills with my passion for helping others. My story is proof that perseverance can turn any dream into reality.Jamiyah S., AA in Business Administration and Management
Completing my degree has been a journey of perseverance and resilience. Balancing full-time work, family responsibilities, and school was not easy, but I kept reminding myself of the long-term goal and the doors this achievement would open. There were moments I felt overwhelmed, but I leaned on discipline, late nights, and a belief that quitting was not an option. My family’s encouragement and my mentors’ advice to “take it one step at a time” carried me through. This milestone proves that persistence, no matter the obstacles, leads to success.Kemuel N., MBA in Business Administration

Completing my degree has been a journey of perseverance and resilience. Balancing school, work, and raising two young children came with many challenges, but I pushed forward because I wanted to create a better future for my family. There were times I felt overwhelmed, but I reminded myself that sacrifices now would lead to greater rewards later. My professors and classmates encouraged me along the way, reminding me that I was capable of finishing strong. This degree represents more than education, it represents strength, growth, and determination.Kykeria J., Certificate - Medical Coding and Billing
Completing my degree has been one of the most challenging yet rewarding experiences of my life. Balancing school, work, and personal responsibilities was overwhelming at times, but I learned to persevere and push forward despite setbacks. Late nights and obstacles became stepping stones that strengthened my resolve. With the support of my faith, family, friends, and Grantham staff, I stayed focused and reached the finish line. Earning my Medical Administrative Assistant degree has been one of the greatest achievements of my life. The journey was filled with obstacles—balancing school, family, and personal challenges—but I refused to give up. It took perseverance, resilience, and faith in myself to keep going. My student advisor, Mrs. Nicole, was my guiding light, always encouraging me and reminding me of my purpose. Her belief in me gave me the strength to push through the hard days. Crossing this finish line proves that with dedication and support, no dream is out of reach.Jasmine F., Certificate - Medical Administrative Assistant
Getting a degree completely online takes a special kind of dedication. It is challenging to always maintain the motivation with so many distractions around. My wife would always push me and make sure I had the time and ability to focus on my work.Jon E., BS in Electronics Engineering Technology
I am a 35-year-old single mom of 3 daughters. Along my journey, my mother was diagnosed with stage 4 brain cancer, and I am her only child and caregiver, so school, mother, and caregiver fell on me. In 2023, she passed away from her brain cancer, and dealing with that loss was hard as well, yet I prevailed through it all, and here I am graduating with my degree. Thank you for the opportunity and the accomplishment.Linda N., AA in Paralegal Studies
I am a full-time working mom of two all while earning my Degree. I have to shout out my husband for all of his support, as he is also graduating at the same time as me from Grantham. We have accomplished this goal together and have enjoyed the journey along the way while attending the University of Arkansas - Grantham. We graduated High-School together in 2015, and are now graduating college together in 2025. I also have to shout out my two amazing children, who are the reason for everything I do. This degree isn't just for me, but for their future as well. I am proud to tell them I am a college graduate, and they can be one too.Lacey L., BS in Accounting
I am a single mother that work over 50 hours a week to provide for my son and self. Life on top of being a student to make a better living for us became HARD, but I continued to keep the faith and pushed through. When personal mishaps came about, I reached out to my advisor and instructors and they helped me get back on track. It took a lot of prayer, self-motivation, and many sleepless nights to earn this degree. I'm so proud of myself and I hope that I make my son proud by doing what it takes to give us a better life.Rosetta L., AAS in Healthcare Administration
I am just happy to overcome everything that I have overcome and be able to get my degreeBrionca J., AA in Business Administration and Management
I am working as an Electrical and Automation Engineer currently, but am going back to get the degree to match my job right now. It has been a struggle to balance the demands of my work between commissioning plants, business trips out of state (and out of country), and being newly married (since November). There were many days I almost broke down from the stress. In the last term, I probably spent a total of 3 of the 8 weeks at home. It was not ideal in the slightest.Daniel H., AS in Electronics and Computer Engineering Technology
I applied myself and worked hard. It wasn't easy, nor should it be.Kenneth M., BS in Information Systems
I began my BS-EET program while on active duty in the Marine Corps, serving as an instructor at the Communication Electronics Schoolhouse. A caveat of this assignment was learning a new occupational specialty that I’d soon be responsible for teaching. Balancing this with college during my limited free time was a major challenge. After two years of teaching, I left active duty, transferred to the Marine Corps Reserves, and started working at a Motorola-partnered service company—still pushing through coursework. To add more to my plate, my wife and I bought our first house and have been busy with repairs and improvements. Despite the constant change and many long nights, I’m proud to have finally earned my college degree!Eric S., BS in Electronics Engineering Technology
I highly recommended Grantham and the all online classes. Even though I did not join the military before going through this curriculum I have been working a rotating shift at work which included rotating from days to nights every two weeks and 60+ hours a week. I was able to go through the classes if I had issues I could reach out for help all throughout my college career. The instructors and service desk is very welcoming also they are not limited to specific hours. If you would like to pursue a degree at Grantham but are unsure about the online schooling. The deliverables are weekly instead of daily and instructors will work with you on due dates! Don't let that hold you back, take the next step and reach those goals you set for yourself!Austin W., BS in Electronics Engineering Technology
I never thought I would return to college. I have such a busy life. I work two full-time jobs and have multiple pets that I care for each day. Many people told me that I would not be able to find time to complete my studies, but I have proven them wrong! I not only maintained my grades, but I also managed to find time to accomplish my goals that I had set for myself. I am so proud of myself and my classmates for taking this next step for our future.Tina S., AAS in Medical Coding and Billing
I pushed through this program for my sons as I hope to inspire them.Dakota P., BA in Criminal Justice
I started in 2016 in criminal justice, as an active duty military member I felt it was to much so I quit. Fast forward to 2023, I got with my fiancé while stationed in Germany and he encouraged me to go back and finish my degree so I did just that, also I wanted to set a good example for my daughter who is now 12.Tiffany G., AA in Business Administration and Management
I wanted to prove a point, all the “educational figures” I had growing up told me I would never be nothing. I wanted to prove to them I am worth it, and I will make it.Christy T., AAS in Medical Administrative Assistant
I work full time as a Sergeant in the Sheriff's Office. I also have obligations to my family of five, my church, to work, and coaching youth soccer and jiu jitsu. I decided to add to the challenge two classes per term to complete my Master's in one year. Entering my Capstone I have a 4.0 and have loved every minute of it. It has not been easy in any way, but it was part of challenging myself to push through and complete my degree as soon possible so I could move on quicker to stepping into what God has for my life. University of Arkansas Grantham is amazing and I would recommend it over any other online university in the world! It truly has made going back to school in my mid-40's a wonderful experience.Scotty K., MS in Leadership
I’m so excited to be obtaining my degree in Healthcare administration. Im a wife, a mother of 6 and work full time. Obtaining my degree hasn’t been the easiest but my advisor Anna has been in my corner encouraging me and helping me for the past 2 years I’m so grateful for her.BriAnne R., AAS in Healthcare Administration
I've been chipping away at this degree for 7 years. Through active duty military service, several deployments, family hardships, and other unexpected trips. Doing calculus at some random airfield in Asia wasn't fun, but it had to get done. The key is chipping away at the goal one piece at a time. Michelangelo didn't carve David in a single day. To anybody else out there who may be chipping away at their education slowly, I see you and success will come through that perseverance. I've finally reached that goal and I'm so happy to be at the end!James T., BS in Electronics Engineering Technology
In 2023, I was diagnosed with CLL/SLL (Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia and Small Lymphocytic Lymphoma). That was devastating news, but I am not going to give up. I work full-time and I work hard to excel in my chosen career as a Patient Access Coordinator/Financial Coordinator. I am excited for the next step in my career. I have completed my Undergraduate certificate in Medical Billing and Coding and Health Information Technology with Honors in both degrees. I have my CCA license, and now I am going to graduate with an Associate of Applied Science in Healthcare Administration from UA Grantham. I am very proud of myself for my hard work and determination. Thanks to my husband and kids for always standing by me and pushing me to do my best.Jacinda H., AAS in Healthcare Administration
In addition to working full time, I am a young father with two daughters. Balancing work, school, and parenting was very tough, and at one point I had to withdraw from classes for a semester while I sold my house and moved across the country for a job opportunity. However, I stuck through it so I could show my daughters that anything is possible if you work hard enough.Ereneo D., BS in Electronics Engineering Technology
Losing my grandmother, who raised me, near the end of the semester was one of the hardest moments in my life. She was someone I hoped would be here to see me graduate and earn my degree. Her absence truly shook my spirit. But in that pain, I reminded myself why I started this journey in the first place. I had come too far to give up. With the support of my loved ones and the memory of her strength, I was able to complete my final term. I know she would be proud, and I carry her with me as I look forward to the next milestone in my life.Chelsea B., AAS in Medical Coding and Billing
My journey to my degree of Associate of Applied Science in Medical Coding and Billing was faced with many challenges, including my personal disability, along with the many interruptions I had experienced due to unexpected circumstances and other family responsibilities, to managing the demanding coursework. I faced moments when I struggled to succeed, and with the support of my family, the encouragement of my instructors, and my student advisors. I was able to push through those challenges. One piece of advice that helped me was, "Never give up, keep pressing on. Do your best and you will succeed.” Every struggle I faced heightened my determination to create a better future for myself and my family. This drove me to push through adversity.Dorothea L., AAS in Medical Coding and Billing
Returning to college after more than a decade wasn’t easy. Balancing coursework with family responsibilities, a full-time job, and the lingering effects of military service required a level of discipline and mental toughness I hadn’t used in years. There were moments when I questioned whether I could keep up, late nights studying after everyone had gone to bed, early mornings filled with self-doubt, and the constant tug-of-war between personal obligations and academic deadlines. But every time I felt like giving up, I thought of my daughters. I wanted them to see that learning doesn’t stop when you reach a certain age or stage in life.Dennis G., BA in Strategic Communications
The biggest challenge I faced was believing in myself. There were countless times I doubted my abilities and wondered if I was smart enough to succeed. I learned to push through by setting small, achievable goals each week and celebrating every milestone, no matter how small. A professor once told me, 'Progress, not perfection.' That simple advice changed my perspective and gave me the resilience I needed to keep going. This degree is more than a diploma; it's proof that I can achieve anything I set my mind to.Controius S., AA in Criminal Justice

Prior to starting Julie Wright's class, I was unsure if I was going to continue because I had never been able to figure out how to write HTML and CSS code to build a website. This alone bothered me because I didn't think I was going to be able to grasp the concept of web building. Starting of week 1 and going into week 2 I had issues with my laptop and issues submitting my assignments. Most of my work in week1 and 2 were deleted. Julie Wright quickly responded and help submit trouble tickets to Grantham helpdesk. After graduating from UAG in 2022 with my AS in Electronics and Computer Engineering Technology, I felt accomplished with what I had worked so hard towards. I never thought I'd see myself attending college after High School, let alone be weeks away from graduating with my BS in Electronics Engineering Technology. If there's one thing my time at UAG has taught me, is that persistence and grit are two key factors in achieving your goals; whether they are academic, professional, or personal. UAG afforded me the ability to push myself more than I thought possible, and I wouldn't be here without the unwavering support of my family, close friends, mentors, and Student Advisor, James Harris.Richard H., BS in Electronics Engineering Technology
After having to drop out of college for personal reasons back in 2020, I never thought I would be able to return to school. I needed to be able to work full-time, and at one point even worked two jobs to make ends meet. UAG allowed me to further my education while working full-time. Because of the wonderful UAG teachers who supported me, my amazing family and coworkers cheering me on, and my two amazing fur babies who were there when I needed comfort from a stressful night of school work after a grueling shift, I wouldn't be graduating today. I am so thankful for everyone in my life and to UAG for granting me this amazing opportunity to graduate with my Associate's in Applied Science in Medical Coding and Billing.Jessica A., AAS in Medical Coding and Billing
Balancing full-time work with academic goals required resilience and discipline. Working over 40 hours a week, I used late nights and short breaks to study, complete assignments, and prepare for exams. The exhaustion was real, but so was my drive to grow personally and professionally. At times, I doubted whether I could manage both, but staying focused on my long-term goals helped me push through. Each challenge—tight deadlines, limited free time, and mental fatigue—became an opportunity to build strength and perseverance. The experience ultimately shaped me into a more determined, goal-oriented individual.Vladimir V., MS in Leadership
Being a single mom, Ive been looking for a way to improve my life to make a better life for my daughter. Finding the UA Grantham paralegal program helped me find a way to do that. With my degree in criminal justice, i was already half way there and only had a short five classes to take. It wasn't always easy but with encouragement from my daughter my coworkers and my professors i managed to finish strong! Summer Macaluso was a huge help too!Cassandra O., AA in Paralegal studies
Completing my master’s degree while serving as a Naval officer was one of the most challenging and rewarding journeys of my life. Balancing leadership responsibilities, family, and academics required discipline and resilience. There were times when the demands felt relentless, but I stayed focused on my purpose—to lead by example and open doors for those who follow. My wife’s constant support and belief in my potential gave me strength when I needed it most. This achievement is a reminder that with perseverance, faith, and the right support, no goal is out of reach.Mark G., MS in Leadership

I appreciate the support of my family and friends who helped me make the decision to return to school! It was the best decision I've made this year and I'm grateful for the opportunity to finish what I started several years ago! It feels great to achieve one of the goals I set this year!Shaherah L., AAS in Healthcare Administration
I have come so far since I started this program. I continue to fight for a second chance of proving myself on the field even with felonies. I associated with the wrong people and pled guilty to things I had no knowledge of but I am willing to take the fault and move on to make my life better and this program has definitely proved to me I have the power. I choose to do this, and I have succeeded in doing so. Now, I will go even farther...only if you believe you will make it. Thank you all for the help and support when I needed it.Rebecca H., AAS in Medical Coding and Billing
I love learning and am so ready to begin bachelors degree. I have brain cancer but am perfectly able to learn and love gaining new knowledge.Jared M., AA in Business Administration and Management
I started my journey on May 8, 2024, filled with uncertainty and fear. From day one, I struggled. The content was challenging, the pace was intense, and balancing school with life’s responsibilities often felt overwhelming. There were moments when I truly didn’t believe I would make it through. I doubted myself constantly and considered giving up more than once. Now, as I reflect on how far I’ve come, I’m proud—not just of the grades or certifications—but of the person I’ve become through this process. A person who doesn’t quit. A person who rises.Lynnette W., AAS in Medical Coding and Billing
I would say that my mom and my grandmother keep me inspired to be in school. This year alone has been a rollercoaster for me in my personal life but i didn't let it stop me from finishing what i started . I know that in my own experience nothing happens without a prayer.Marissa T., Certificate - Medical Administrative Assistant
I’m excited to share that I’ve had the chance to go back to school and finish my Master’s degree in Business Administration! It’s been an enriching journey, despite the challenges along the way. Balancing classes, my full-time job, and all the traveling I do for work hasn’t been easy, but I feel so proud of what I’ve accomplished. This experience has taught me a great deal and has made me more determined than ever. I'm eager to see where this journey takes me next!Richard C., MBA in Business Administration

With this foundation, I’m better equipped to grow my brand, manage operations efficiently, and stay competitive in a changing market.Briesha W., AA in Business Administration and Management
It was very difficult at the beginning. I failed a course once. I had so many things going on in my home life. Having two children and a job, plus a home to maintain, it became too much. However, this time I created a solid time management plan to help me in my endeavors. I succeeded this time. So now I will move forward to my Associates in Health professions.Kalesha J., Certificate - Medical Coding and Billing
My motivation that got me through all my classes and continuing my education was my husband of 14 years and my 4 wonderful children, They helped push me to keep going and to get my degree, I always liked working with people and found it really fascinating to be able to help with medical coding and billing. I can't wait to see where this will take me and my family in the future.Jamie K., AAS in Medical Coding and Billing
September 2025 I will graduate with my Bachelors and celebrate my 50th birthday! I obtained my Associates in 1999, then life happened. UA Grantham made the process of returning to college very obtainable, from the personal laptop program, the financial aid process and academic choices to fit my goals. Cultivating peer relationships in other states has been rewarding. I appreciate being encouraged by professors and advisors through tragedy and triumph. Thank you.Katherine D., BBA in Business Administration - Operations Management Concentration
Starting a college degree in my 30s was never in the plan of my life, but I decided to take the journey and I am proud that I did. I am one of the first of family to graduate from college and continue on with higher education. It does not matter what age you are, it really is never too late. That is my biggest life lesson learned here at Grantham. The courses are challenging and helped me discover parts of me I never knew existed. I pushed past my comfort zone and unlocked so much potential for my future. I have Grantham to thank for that. I am forever grateful, I will always have Grantham pride, and hey, when one of my apps go viral and begin to help others, I won't forget Grantham! Thank you all for all that you do.Nichole H., BS in Computer Science
This has been an arduous journey, but I made it through with the help of God, my family, and friends. The most arduous struggle was balancing work, school, and family, but through prayer and faith, I was able to accomplish my goal. My children were my most significant source of encouragement. I wanted to show them that anything is possible with faith, hard work, and dedication. I also owe thanks to my husband for putting up with the long nights of studying and my anxious attitude. He pushed me when I thought I had nothing else to give. I never thought I would hold a bachelor's degree, but now I have a bachelor's and a master's! All I can say is that with God, all things are possible, and I truly thank Him for this accomplishment.Melisha A., MHA in Healthcare Administration

I don't even know where to begin when trying to describe how helpful and impactful James Harris has been on my UAG experience. I was transferred to him upon enrollment into my BS degree, and he has been there for me during every term, every roadblock, and every question I had. He has gone above and beyond whenever I needed assistance, guidance, or clarification, and the times that he wasn't able to provide me with any of those listed, I wouldn't have to worry about it as he would go out of his way to find out and follow back up with me. He made managing my courses with my life circumstances really easy and there was never any pressure to take on more than I felt like I couldn't handle. He is highly knowledgeable and willing to do everything he can to keep me aligned with my own goals, and there were times I felt like I wouldn't have been able to make it this far into my enrolled program without him. He has always been optimistic, realistic, and I never felt like I had anything to doubt when it came to his guidance with terms, course arrangement, and problems. It is easy to see that James genuinely cares for his students and will go out of his way if necessary to make sure they are well informed, on the right track, and confident in the path they're pursuing here at UAG. I can't think of anyone more deserving of the Student Service Award than him!Richard H., BS in Electronics Engineering Technology
James Harris became my advisor over the last couple of semesters, he has always communicated with me about where I stand academically, making sure I was accommodated during coursework. Having technical issues can be a pain, especially when it can take up to a week to resolve, or getting proctored exams rescheduled for a multitude of reasons. When these events happened he checked with me often, when he didn't have the answers, he was honest about it, never giving me the run around and got the answers within 24 hours. End of degree coursework is stressful, I have found myself emailing questions he already answered, he doesn't make a big deal about it, just gives the answers again. Kudos. Thanks.Katherine D., BBA in Business Administration - Operations Management Concentration
My student advisor was Scott Robinson. Each and every time I ran into a problem (extremely rare), he was sure to give his best assistance.Allysa H., AAS in Medical Coding and Billing
My student advisor, Mr. James Harris has been incredibly patient and kind with me on this journey. It was a difficult transition to start back in school in my 30s and so I have had some difficulties, mostly user errors, and yet he has always taken the time to respond to me, any time of the day and with a positive, helpful response. Even several difficult times in my life I have experienced, he has treated me like a human who deserves kindness and love and that is something about people that you never forget. He loves the students, he respects and cares and shows empathy and understanding. If he does not know the answers, he finds them!Nichole H., Computer Science
Chad Martens was very supportive and I appreciate all the information he covered with me. Chad went out of his way to make sure I received all the support i needed. I appreciate it!Shaherah L., AAS in Healthcare Administration
Dr. Johnnie Bowman understands each student starts the course with a different competency level, meeting us where that is, delivering teachable and experienced knowledge each week to provide an abundance of relevant, challenging and applied material with resources. Courses with Dr. Bowman feel more like on-the-job training with a colleague than school. It is great for wavering self esteem, being an older adult in college. During discussion posts, he asked questions that provoked deeper thought and understanding. Assignment feedback is engaging, even if the paper is well written. I have had Dr. Bowman for several courses He is fair, honest and readily available by email or phone. Dr. Bowman relates to multi-tasking school work, family time and employment, if there is an issue school related or not, communicating with him lessens the stress of figuring it out alone.Katherine D., BBA in Business Administration - Operations Management Concentration
Dr. Malley provided great feedback on my submitted assignmentsChristian S., BS in Electronics Engineering Technology
I can't remember her name, but my math instructor met with me privately and tutored me to help me to be able to pass the class. I struggle in math and she went above and beyond.Lauren M., BBA in Business Administration - General Management Concentration
Janet Andrews went out of her way to be helpful. She was uplifting and offered additional resources when I needed them. She was always there when I had questions and offered guidance when I had difficulty grasping some concepts contained in medical terminology breakdowns.Teresa G., Certificate - Medical Coding and Billing
Kos Semonski was a great professor that took time to help and answer any questions. He even helped on his personal time at home.Amanda J., BS in Cybersecurity
Mohammad Hajibeigy was a standout professor who helped me better understand many concepts in ET372. With the class being diverse in concepts and applications, as well as the technical difficulties I faced at times understanding the material, Professor Hajibeigy was able to help guide me when I needed it, while providing resources to apply to the weekly material. He was always quick to respond to problems and questions, and I never felt strapped for time on assignments and labs when waiting to hear back from him. Overall, my interactions and his feedback in helping me when I needed it (which was a lot during my term) made the course manageable with the other high-level course I was taking at the same time.Richard H., BS in Electronics Engineering Technology
My absolute best experiences have been with Mr. Marty Chrenka. I have had him for several classes, from the very beginning of my journey. Mr. Chrenka not only is incredibly intelligent in the field, but he is so humble and kind and patient with all of us. He shows that he understands that not everyone learns the same way and he is great at responding and teaching in a way where we all feel we can actually learn this difficult topic. I appreciate him so much, his feedback is always very informative and helpful. He just overall is the best educator I have had in my life. He loves what he does and it shows and shines.Nichole H., BS in Computer Science

Achieving my engineering degree fulfills a lifelong dream. As a dedicated father, I strive to set an example for my daughter, demonstrating that perseverance and hard work lead to meaningful success. Balancing a full-time career in the aerospace industry with my academic pursuits presented significant challenges, but the unwavering support of my family was instrumental in my journey. This degree represents not just a personal achievement, but a pathway to professional advancement and an opportunity to inspire my daughter through determination and resilience.Jorge A., BS in Engineering Management Technology
As a retired veteran, pursuing my master's degree at UA Grantham has been a deeply meaningful and affirming journey. The university has gone above and beyond to recognize and build upon the skills, discipline, and real-world leadership that I developed during my military service. From the moment I enrolled, I felt that my experience as a veteran wasn’t just acknowledged—it was respected as a valuable foundation for academic growth. The curriculum was flexible yet rigorous, allowing me to apply my prior knowledge in leadership, strategy, and service while also expanding my understanding through modern theories and practical tools. Instructors often integrated real-life applications that aligned with military values such as accountability, teamwork, and mission-driven thinking. UA Grantham’s commitment to veteran education was evident in the support I received—from Veteran Affairs services to knowledgeable advisors who understood the unique challenges of transitioning from military to academic life. The university offered a structure that honored my time, respected my background, and encouraged me to bring my whole self into the classroom. Thanks to this inclusive and empowering environment, I have not only earned my master’s degree but also grown into a more confident, purpose-driven leader—ready to serve in new and meaningful ways beyond my military career.Mario H., MS in Leadership
As a veteran, leaving the military with little to no civilian education is hard. Especially when your military education and experience doesn’t translate into the “civilian world.” It felt like starting over in a lot of ways, and that was tough. I have come a long way, and I’m proud of how I kept going even when things got hard.Courtney F., AAS in Medical Coding and Billing
Being a father of three while working a full-time, high-demand job isn’t something to take lightly, especially when you have a teenager. When you make the decision to better yourself, to set a lasting example for your children and others, it has to be backed by perseverance and determination. It’s more than just earning a piece of paper. It’s about gaining experiences and knowledge that carry through the rest of your career. What I appreciated about UA Grantham was their format, which allowed someone like me, busy and stretched thin, to accomplish this goal. I couldn’t have done it without my family, who pushed me and held me accountable.Jesse G., BBA in Business Administration - Operations Management Concentration
Completing my degree has been a journey filled with personal and academic challenges. As a mom of a young autistic daughter, balancing school, parenting, and mental health struggles wasn’t easy. There were days I wanted to give up—but I reminded myself why I started. My advisor, Nichole, was a steady source of support, and my daughter inspired me every step of the way. I pushed through late nights, self-doubt, and setbacks because I knew this degree was more than a goal—it was a promise to myself and my family that I wouldn’t quit.Desirae T., AAS in Medical Administrative Assistant
Completing my MBA while caring for my mother, who was diagnosed with severe rheumatoid arthritis, was one of the hardest times of my life. As the oldest, I became her primary caregiver while managing a team and coursework. I wanted to give up many times, but my family and coworkers kept me going. As a first-generation graduate, this achievement is deeply personal. My immigrant parents gave up everything—and continue to sacrifice—for me and my sister to have a better future. Their strength and support pushed me to succeed. This degree is for them.Irvin T., MBA in Business Administration
Completing this degree was one of the hardest yet most rewarding accomplishments of my life. I balanced coursework while navigating personal hardships. There were moments I wanted to give up, but my desire to build a better future for my child kept me going. Supportive professors and a close friend reminded me of the strength when I doubted myself. This journey taught me that resilience isn't just about surviving, it's about rising every time you fall.Sydney K., Certificate - Medical Administrative Assistant
Earning my AAS in Healthcare Administration was a journey of balancing full-time work and family life. There were many late nights studying after long shifts, and moments I questioned if I could truly do it. My biggest challenge was staying motivated when exhaustion set in. What kept me going were my children and significant other. My family always said, "Every small step forward is progress, no matter how tiny." That advice resonated deeply. It helped me break down overwhelming tasks into manageable pieces and celebrate every quiz passed or assignment completed. Knowing they believed in me made all the difference. Their constant encouragement helped me push through and achieve this huge goal.Shinelle B., AAS in Healthcare Administration
Earning my BBA in General Management marks a major milestone in my life. As a retired Army veteran working in corporate banking, balancing work, school, and life was no easy feat. This journey tested my perseverance, resilience, and time management. There were tough moments, but I stayed focused, fueled by my desire to grow and the encouragement of family and friends who believed in me. Their wisdom and support helped me push through. My Name is Tina Marie I am 39 years young with four children and three grandchildren. I decided to go back to school to show my kids that it is never too late. I had long nights and trying days. With tears in my eyes, I did it. One of my kids is autistic so anyone that knows what that means know that I wanted to give up. However, God had a different plan for me. And I'm glad he did. I want to shout out all my friends for words of encouragements and also my kids to see me as an inspiration Thanks to all the counselors and teachers who nerves I know I worked lol. I became a young mother and always dreamed of going back to school, but getting my GED felt out of reach. I tried several times but couldn’t do it alone. When I met my husband, who was serving in the Navy, everything changed. He encouraged me, supported me, and reminded me I was capable. At 40, I finally earned my GED, and I was so proud. From there, I kept going. Now, I’m the first person in my family to earn a college degree—something I never imagined possible. This journey has meant everything to me and proves it’s never too late to start again.Lisa D., BS in Information Systems - Web Development Concentration
I have been on and off the education train, but thanks to my family's encouragement to follow my passions, I have finally earned a degree. Without them, I would still be considering pursuing further education instead of having already done so. They sacrificed time away from me, but understood what it was for.Steven R., AS in Engineering Management Technology
I never thought it was possible to go back to school at 45 years old. I wanted greater things in life, and a college degree was the way to make that happen. All of the teachers and staff members have been great. The teacher that inspired me the most was Richard Sayles. He encouraged me, explained things that I didn't understand, and incorporated his real life experiences into the course. From begining to end he was great. I am continuing my education after this associate's degree. The day after graduation I begin working on my bachelor's degree here at Grantham. I couldn't ask for a better school to accomplish my goal at. Thank you to everyone that made this possible.Karen P., AA in Criminal Justice
I started college education at a traditional brick and mortar college in 1999. I later joined the military and after multiple deployments, my college career stalled as I sought employment and stability. After starting an active-guard position in 2008, I started back to college by attending my first online courses with Grantham University. Then life happened. After a couple of starts and stops, I pushed through the final seven classes to finish my bachelor's degree in July 2025, shortly before my retirement from the military. UA Grantham helped me secure opportunities for career options post-military.John S., BBA in Business Administration - General Management Concentration
I started my college education 9 months postpartum with my first son. I am now finishing my degree with my first son being 2 years old and my second son being 9 months old. I am super proud of myself for pushing through and seeing the light at the end of the tunnel. I'm blessed to have come this far and continue to move forward with my career. I had long nights and early mornings while taking care of my four children, and two of my children graduated high school in May, so I'm a proud mother of the Class of 2025, and I'm pleased to walk this journey with my children and to share all my accomplishments.Amber L., AAS in Medical Administrative Assistant
My years in college? A crazy mix of working awfully hard, growing personally, and showing nothing but grit. Like so many of us, there were moments when all of those assignments felt like too much, when I couldn't see how I was ever going to balance classes, a job, and life, and when I was filled with doubt about what I was doing. But I was building my future, and I was somehow exceeding my own expectations. That's what got me through. A major motivating force for me was my father who earned his master’s degree just last year. He is an amazing example of what can be accomplished with dedication, discipline, and the age-old mantra of ‘never give up, even when the times get tough.’ This dream has become a reality!Garrett F., BA in Criminal Justice - Homeland Security Concentration
Through war zones, deployments, and the weight of leading others, I never lost sight of a personal mission: earning my degrees. Even while navigating the heartbreak of losing loved ones and supporting my spouse through serious health challenges, I kept going. Balancing military service, family, and academics was not easy—but it was worth it. My Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees helped me advance in rank and, more importantly, allowed me to lead by example for my children. This achievement stands as a reminder: no matter the obstacles, perseverance turns goals into reality.Alfred C., MBA in Information Management
Throughout my time at UA Grantham, I’ve been dedicated to serving others. I chose this school because of the flexibility of online learning with the best professors and academic advisors. It was a long journey, but without them, I could not have made it this far. Thank you!Jacqueline T., MS in Leadership
When I first started this journey my daughter was just born, and I have just started my business. Soon after, I also became a single father. So my journey was not easy to say the least. But my daughter was my biggest motivation. I wanted to set an example for her and stick with my studies despite a very busy schedule. What I never realized is how much my studies would end up helping me in my own business, and how most of what I would learn I could directly apply in my day to day life. One of the first major achievements I learned was accounting and I learned how to create, read and analyze my own company's financial sheets. This journey has been nothing short of amazing and educational.Nichita P., BBA in Business Administration

My kids were my greatest motivation. They pushed me, whether they knew it or not, to keep moving forward even when I felt overwhelmed, exhausted, or uncertain. Balancing full-time parenting with rigorous academic demands wasn’t easy. There were sleepless nights, missed events, and countless moments when giving up seemed like the easier option. But I reminded myself that I wasn't just doing this for me, I was doing it for them. I wanted to show my children that no matter your circumstances, your dreams are valid and achievable with hard work and determination.Brandi W., MHA in Healthcare Administration
Because of positions I've held at the top levels of state government, some people assumed and often inquired about what my degree was in due to my commitment to protect children from abuse and women in domestic violence situations. My passion for my career choice came not from educational endeavors, but personal life experiences. Drafting memos, providing governor briefings and leading transformational focus groups in state government, was one of life's greatest honors. Being a voice for our state's most vulnerable is a privilege. Even soo, something always lingered. Obtaining my degree wasn't about prestige or access, it was about a lifetime of learning to better affect societal change.Phyllis B., BA in Criminal Justice
Completing my degree at UA Grantham was a transformative journey filled with challenges. Balancing work and studies tested my resilience, especially during demanding semesters. One particularly tough moment was when I faced a major project with a tight deadline. I reached out to my professor, who encouraged me to break it down into manageable tasks. This advice not only helped me succeed in that project but also instilled a habit of tackling obstacles step by step. My family’s unwavering support fueled my determination. Their belief in my potential reminded me that perseverance is key to overcoming any hurdle. Every late night and early morning was worth it, proving that hard work truly pays off.Katrina E., AA in Criminal Justice
Completing my Medical Billing and Coding degree as a stay-at-home mother to young children, including one with special needs, was a challenging but rewarding journey fueled by perseverance, support, and determination. Balancing family responsibilities, appointments, and coursework required flexibility and resilience, with encouragement from my husband and online classmates helping me stay motivated. This achievement not only signifies personal growth but also inspires my children to pursue their dreams despite obstacles, and I look forward to contributing to healthcare and supporting others facing similar challenges.Robby A., AAS in Medical Coding and Billing
Earning my degree at UA Grantham has been a journey of perseverance and purpose. As a 53-year-old Army veteran, returning to school while balancing family, work, and life challenges wasn’t easy. There were times I questioned if I could keep going, but I reminded myself that this goal wasn’t just for me—it was for my future and my family. My student advisor, Lance Rosenow, always encouraged me to stay on track and never lose sight of the finish line. With discipline, determination, and support, I’m proud to say I made it.Thomas B., AS in Computer Science
Finishing my degree was not easy, but I never gave up. I work full-time as a School Computer Technology Specialist, so finding time to study was hard. Some days were tough, but I kept going because I wanted to reach my goal. My family stood by me, and my teachers were always helpful and kind. I’m proud of how far I’ve come—and the best is yet to come!Farid R., BS in Electronics Engineering Technology
This degree has been a long journey of 10 years to complete. I started this journey at Baylor University, Waco, Texas then transitioned to MTSU in Murfreesboro, TN and now is ending here at UA Grantham. I’ve experienced a complete life change during this time including growing a family and several military challenges. Finally, I can say I am the first person in my family to complete a higher education outside of my wife who has her masters. I’m proud to say this chapter in my life is completed.Phillip J., BA in Multidisciplinary Studies
Honestly, The person who helped me push through the most is my Loving wife Peggy, she has backed me the whole way while we have been working full time and encouraging me to keep pushing to get school done. I adore her and thank you endlessly for helping me.Michael P., AS in Computer Science
I am glad to have achieved this milestone. Circumventing work life, a combat deployment, and my academics was definitely one for the books. All I can say is that I am proud of my achievement.Chukwuma O., MBA in Business Administration - Information Management
I am just a 32 year old man diagnosed with stage 4 brain cancer 6 months and was told by 2 cancer doctors in Louisville I have 6 to 12 months to live but my Uk gave me hope.Jared M., AA in Business Administration and Management
I began my journey in 2008 when I joined the Coast Guard. I navigated the challenges of military life while balancing work and education, often at sea with limited internet access. Despite personal hardships, including the loss of my father, I refused to quit, reminding myself I was halfway there. Many nights were spent saying no to fun and time with loved ones, but I persevered through the sacrifices and moments of doubt. Ultimately, it was all worth it, as I successfully achieved my goals.Kim N., MHA in Healthcare Administration
I debated for years whether I should go back to school to finish my degree or not. I just couldn't see starting all over again, but UA Grantham allowed credits from my old transcripts to count towards my BA in Strategic Communications. I had some hiccups along the way, having to withdraw due to medical reasons, and only taking one course per term when I had a hectic travel schedule at work. Eight weeks go by rather quickly when you manage your time and keep your focus and priorities in check. I don't know why I didn't do this years ago!Sheron R., BA in Strategic Communications
I first enrolled in college in 2013, full of hope and determination. I had four small children and a heart full of dreams. But as any parent knows, life has a way of demanding more than you expect. I made the difficult decision to step away to care for my family. In 2022, my life changed forever when my husband was killed in a car accident. I didn't know how to move forward. Then I saw an ad for UA Grantham, it felt like a quiet nudge-reminding me not to give up. I applied, nervous but determined. There were moments I wanted to quit however the support from my advisor Sarah, instructors and my children kept me going. This degree is more than a personal achievement- it's a tribute to resilience, love, and never giving up on your dreams.Jayme F., AAS in Medical Coding and Billing
I got the worst news I could imagine, I had stage 3 melanoma cancer that had spread to my lymph nodes. Right then I wanted to give up, but instead I took the time I had off from work to go to college not only to better myself but so I could make sure my sons would be able to have a good life. My kids, fiancée, dad and step mom were my biggest fan rooting me on, they believed in me and that made me believe even more in myself. I am so happy to graduate and I will be coming back to get my bachelor degree in the health field. I want to thank all the teachers who understood what I was going through and was there to help me suceed.Candy T., AAS in Medical Administrative Assistant
I have been working on this degree for a very long-time now. From getting out of the military to getting engaged. Planning a wedding while working a full-time job and getting a degree is not easy. I am so very thankful for all the other students and the teachers for pushing me so hard. I am also very thankful for my fiancé who has stayed up countless nights with me doing science projects. I started with 2022 and I told my mother, who is deceased now, that I was going back to school for my degree. She was excited to know it was in the medical field and I wish she was here to celebrate with me. I know she helped me throughout everything I went through during the two years of school. Being a mother of five working in the coding and billing field to this day has helped me realize that anything I put my mind to it I can achieve no matter what I’m going through god will forever make a way for me and anyone who wants to succeed in life. I’m happy that I have a supportive family, fiancé and teachers along with staff and student council at Grantham and I hope to see everyone next semester when I come back for my bachelors.Tangarae K., AAS in Medical Coding and Billing

It is a refreshing feeling to complete my certificate in cybersecurity concepts! I almost gave up when I lost my father in November 2024. I was overwhelmed with grief and defeated, but there is a light at every end of the tunnel! I was able to persevere and re-enroll to complete my program. I completed this program for me and for him, and I hope he's proud of me!Richaundra G., Certificate - Cybersecurity Concepts
My journey has been very interesting to say the least. I was determined to change who I was and learn another way of life. I pushed myself everyday to complete assignments to keep going and even through many bumps in the road. In this journey I have had a son in law pass, taken on my grandchildren to raise and been through bump after bump. I made a promise to my service dog that we would do this. I lost her in sept. but I kept pushing and worked hard to receive this.Pamela M., MS in Leadership
My time at Grantham was an amazing experience. As someone who worked throughout the duration of my degree, the flexibility of online learning was essential. The instructors here at Grantham did an excellent job organizing the courses to make the material both accessible and aligned with current industry standards. As a computer science major, I was initially concerned that the coursework might rely on outdated frameworks, especially if it was textbook based. Thankfully, every class provided relevant, up-to-date content reflecting modern technologies.Cory F., BS in Computer Science
The fact that Sara Phillips would remind me that my work would be due when I had fallen behind was a big help throughout the past couple years. I appreciated that very much. Adam Stone also did a great job motivating me along the way as well, and provided a much needed upgrade for a computer.Kaila G., AS in Electronics and Computer Engineering Technology
This is a great accomplishment for me, as due to many obstacles in my life, I finally decided to work towards my degree.Eugenia W., AA in Business Administration and Management
This process was admittedly humbling; the academic challenges helped me find my intellectual ceiling and I'm not sure how I feel about it because it is lower than I had thought prior to studying all of these topics. In addition to the busyness of school, welcoming our third child, finding multiple leaps in employment, serving in the National Guard, and other life obligations, being at the end of this road is certainly cause of introspection and it makes me curious to see what is next in my life with this achievement complete.Cyre S., BS in Electronics Engineering Technology
Throughout my journey, my children have been my greatest motivators. They inspire me with hope and remind me of my purpose. Whenever I felt overwhelmed or doubted my abilities, I would simply look at their faces to reignite my determination. My little ones have truly been my guiding light. Even when the path was challenging, I refused to let negative thoughts consume me. Instead, I focused on what truly matters: their future and well-being. Reflecting on how far I’ve come fills me with an immense sense of pride!Lamesha M., AAS in Medical Administrative Assistant
Working at the MEPS leaves me little room to accomplish my studies but through determination and a promise I made to my parents to achieve my associates, bachelors and now masters is pricelessTerry J., MS in Leadership

A course (Basic Procedure Coding Systems) that is essential to earning a degree in Medical Coding and Billing, Michelle Chappell's dedication made all the difference. She held optional weekly Zoom meetings that provided critical support and clarity, especially for students like me who are visual learners. These meetings helped break down complex concepts and ensured a welcoming space for questions and discussion. Her passion for teaching and genuine care for our success was clear in everything she did. She continuously encouraged us and reminded us not to give up, even when we felt like we would never learn this intricate system. What truly made a difference, though, was her empathy as she reminded us to give ourselves grace, reassuring us it was ok to struggle as we are just being introduced to something that can seem so overwhelming. Her empathy in recognizing that many of us were working, raising a family, and trying to be the best student and the challenges that came along made us feel understood. Her belief in our potential kept us motivated, even during the most challenging parts of the course. Instructor Chappell demonstrates what it means to be an outstanding educator, and her efforts have made lasting impact on our learning and growth in our future careers. Thank you Instructor Chappell for walking alongside, helping us reach this milestone.Jayme F., AAS in Medical Coding and Billing
