About Us

Is UA Grantham a part of the University of Arkansas System?

On Nov. 1, 2021 Grantham University joined the University of Arkansas System and officially became the University of Arkansas Grantham. UA Grantham is now a stronger institution with greater ability to serve the thousands of students already enrolled in our fully-online degree and certificate programs.

How long has University of Arkansas Grantham been around?

University of Arkansas Grantham was founded in 1951 by WWII Veteran Donald Grantham, whose desire was to help fellow veterans improve their lives through higher education. Learn more about Grantham’s history.

Is University of Arkansas Grantham accredited?

Yes, University of Arkansas Grantham is accredited by the Distance Education Accrediting Commission (DEAC). Grantham also has programmatic accreditation from the Engineering Technology Accreditation Commission of ABET. What certificate or degree programs are offered?

We offer undergraduate and graduate degree and certificate programs at the associate, bachelor’s and master’s levels in fields such as business, healthcare, criminal justice, engineering technology, and computer science and more. All courses and programs exist completely online, in a convenient and flexible format.

How does the online format work? Can I login anywhere at any time?

Every course at University of Arkansas Grantham is 100% online, and most courses start monthly and last eight weeks. Students sign in (via our student portal) to the popular learning management system Blackboard Learn, where they participate in discussions with classmates, submit assignments and take exams. There is no one required time to attend class, and students complete work on their own schedule. Students must have regular access to a computer with these requirements and specifications.

How long does it usually take to earn a degree?

The length of time to earn a degree from University of Arkansas Grantham depends on many factors, including (but not limited to) the level of degree, amount of hours in the program, and whether the student persists without any breaks from one term to the next. Transfer credits, of course, can shorten the process. Speak with an admissions advisor who can help you determine the length of the program you are interested in.

How do I apply?

Everything an incoming student needs to apply to University of Arkansas Grantham is addressed on our website’s admissions section. Our admissions experts are also available via live chat, email or phone call. Students should expect a simple and efficient process, with no SAT, ACT, GRE, GMAT or standardized test requirements for admission.

How do transcripts work?

Future students are responsible for reporting all previously attended colleges and universities for which they wish to have earned credits evaluated for transfer into a University of Arkansas Grantham degree program. Students wishing to transfer credit must have official transcripts on file and evaluated prior to course registration. Students/alumni seeking a copy of their official transcripts from UA Grantham can order the transcripts through our Transcript Ordering Center.

Transferring

Does University of Arkansas Grantham accept transfer credits?

Yes. University of Arkansas Grantham evaluates learning inside and outside the classroom–including previous college courses, corporate or military training, certifications and more—to help students save time and money in earning their degree. In order to see if you are eligible for transfer credit based on prior education you will need to submit transcripts for evaluation. This includes your JST if you are a military student. For a Prior Learning Assessment to see if your experience outside the classroom is eligible, your student advisor can guide you through that process. How can I get help to see if I have prior learning credits?

Start your application, and ask your Admission Representative to begin an evaluation. Prior learning credits are awarded following a process of evaluation of student-submitted evidence of formal training and other learning. Evidence may include completion certificates for professional, corporate, or military training; transcripts from non-accredited institutions; licenses; and any other documentation that provides evidence of learning experience and knowledge. Students may also submit a Description of Experience essay. All documentation will be evaluated in terms of specific program and course outcomes compared to UA Grantham courses to ensure substantial comparability.

Paying for My Education

How much is tuition? Is financial aid available?

At University of Arkansas Grantham, we work to keep costs low for students. At $305/credit hour for undergrads and $365/credit hour for grad students, our tuition rate is lower than many other institutions. For qualifying students, a special military rate reduces costs further, while additional scholarship and grant opportunities can also keep costs down for select students. The university is also approved to offer federal student financial aid to those who qualify.

Does the university accept military funding, or offer any military student discounts?

University of Arkansas Grantham helps veterans maximize their Veterans Administration benefits, and active duty and reserve service members make the most of their Tuition Assistance benefits. UA Grantham’s military programs for active duty service members and veterans also include a textbook and software grant, among other benefits. Additionally, we offer a $250/credit hour discounted military and veteran rate.

COVID-19

At University of Arkansas Grantham, the safety and well-being of our students is our top priority. We are monitoring CDC and other sources for any developments that may affect our students. During a time when many changes are taking place in the name of prevention, some good news is that your University of Arkansas Grantham education remains the same. As a 100% online university, we remain open and fully available to deliver quality education to our students. We have taken precautions requiring university staff and faculty to work remotely, which will not impact your student experience.

Our Plan Ahead

The only significant change to University of Arkansas Grantham operations has been moving employees off campus to work remotely. This transition has been seamless and transparent to all student support operations.

Does University of Arkansas Grantham provide a laptop?

Any new or returning student who enrolls in a degree program will receive a new laptop—at no additional cost. It is recommended that students have a computer or laptop for primary educational use. The computer needs an updated Windows or Mac operating system (at least a Windows 8 or Mac OS 10.12 is required). Necessary software may include Adobe Acrobat Reader and Flash Player, Java Runtime Environment and an up-to-date browser such as Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox or Safari. High-speed internet access of at least 1 Mbps is recommended, and in some courses, a webcam may be required.

It is a requirement that students have a computer or laptop for primary educational use. Other materials such as readings and online discussion boards are usually available on a range of devices.

E-books are typically used in UA Grantham courses and can be accessed on a variety of devices, including mobile phones and tablets. When pursuing computer engineering courses or similar programs that require computer applications, Windows OS tends to be most compatible. Students utilizing Apple products may have to install emulation software to run Windows apps.

All course material is distributed through a learning management system. University of Arkansas Grantham uses the Blackboard environment. Students can log in and access course materials to aid in their studies, complete assignments and quizzes, and participate in discussion boards or chatrooms with other students.

Can international students attend the university?

Yes, University of Arkansas Grantham accepts all students who qualify, including those living inside or outside the United States or its properties. In short, there are no restrictions on citizenship, residency or status. However, prospective Grantham students with secondary or previous education in a foreign country must demonstrate English language proficiency. And any foreign transcripts (high school, college, etc.) must be evaluated by an authorized party. University of Arkansas Grantham does not issue student visa documents (e.g. Form I-20) to students for any program.

What type of academic or career support do you offer?

Our primary goal is student success. We want all of our students to do well in class, and to graduate, so they can achieve their goals. Our advisors provide a high level of support starting prior to your first day in class and then on a minimum of a weekly or bi-weekly check in after you start. Our instructors will provide you individual support or access to resources you need. In addition, we offer 24/7 tutoring in many classes, at no additional cost. Our dedicated career services staff will begin working with you during your program and continue to support your job search needs after graduation.

How are University of Arkansas Grantham's graduates and degrees accepted?

Because Grantham is accredited, employers know that Grantham-educated applicants received proper academic and professional development training in school.

What are the benefits of studying at University of Arkansas Grantham?

University of Arkansas Grantham offers online programs at the undergraduate and graduate levels. All classes are offered through the Blackboard learning management system in an eight-week format. Many courses have monthly start dates and no scheduled class times. In other words, during an academic term students can study when and where they choose.

Military service members can receive special benefits when pursuing a degree program at UA Grantham, including potential course credit for prior military experience. Tuition is available at just $250 per credit hour for active duty military students and veterans. Plus, military students do not pay any technology or book fees. Grantham also offers a military-to-civilian transition program to help students with resume building and interviewing. For active military, tuition assistance has been approved for use at this institution.

According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, obtaining a bachelor’s degree adds approximately $584¹ to an employee's weekly paycheck when compared to employees who have only a high school diploma.
